When does education really begin?
In this new contribution to OMAEP, Alex S. Lamas Sánchez explores the relationship between prenatal life, epigenetics and early brain development, inviting us to reconsider the traditional boundaries of education.
The article examines what the author describes as the “invisible brain”: the developing neurobiological architecture shaped through the continuous interaction between genetic processes and the intrauterine environment. Drawing on research and perspectives from neuroscience, neuroeducation, developmental science and economics, the text discusses prenatal auditory experience, maternal stress, emotional regulation and early developmental conditions.
Beyond the scientific discussion, the article raises an important question for prenatal education: what changes when we understand gestation not simply as a biological period, but also as a formative stage deserving care, awareness and interdisciplinary research?
OMAEP invites researchers, educators, health professionals, families and all those interested in prenatal education to read the complete article and continue the international conversation on the foundations and future of prenatal pedagogy.
